GEM supports Essex Air Ambulance
A date for the diary of anyone interested in joining a rather large motorcycle event. On Sunday 16 September more than 3,000 riders - including GEM representatives – are expected for a charity run across the county of Essex, from Ford Dunton technical Centre across to historic Harwich. The ride is in support of the county’s Air Ambulance Service.
The event will be an early highlight of a partnership agreed by GEM and Essex Air Ambulance, in which we will be assisting with the promotion of their amazing life-saving work. The Essex Air Ambulance carries doctors and sophisticated equipment to reach casualties within the first few vital minutes of an emergency.
More than 8,500 missions have been flown since the service was commissioned. The helicopter used for the work costs in excess of £105,000 each month to run. Despite its link to the NHS, Essex Air Ambulance receives no Government or National Lottery funding; relying on generous donations to raise sufficient revenue to keep it flying.
