DON’T BREAK DOWN OVER THE CREDIT CRUNCH
By GEM Motoring Assist

With the credit crunch taking hold, GEM Motoring Assist has made it easier for drivers to afford the cover they need.  Everyone is cutting costs and after road tax, insurance and MOT, not to mention high petrol prices, drivers can mistakenly assume that breakdown cover is an unnecessary additional cost.  However, winter is closing in and bad weather and more hours of darkness make breakdown cover more crucial than ever!

Until 30th September, GEM’s joint cover is the same price as single cover and family cover is available for the usual cost of joint cover.  Furthermore, for parents with teenagers off to University, with GEM’s family policy (up to four members living under one roof) dependents in full time education will be covered even if they are living away from home.  All this is on top of prices that are already up to 50% lower than competitors and with no compromise on quality.

Previously known as the Guild of Experienced Motorists, GEM offers a choice of three recovery service packages; Recovery Extra, Recovery Reclaim and Roadside, which can be bought as single, joint or family cover.  Recovery Extra is comprehensive cover including home assistance, recovery anywhere in the UK, plus onward travel or emergency accommodation for you and your passengers.  Recovery Reclaim allows you to pay the attending garage then reclaim the appropriate costs from GEM, and includes roadside assistance, recovery throughout the UK and onward travel or emergency accommodation.  Roadside includes roadside assistance or recovery to a local garage or your home address if it is within a 15 mile radius of the breakdown.

GEM Motoring Assist was set up to combat road accidents and remains at the forefront of motoring safety.  David Williams, Chief Executive of GEM Motoring Assist said, “Whilst it is understandable that drivers are neglecting to buy roadside cover in order to make savings, it is a huge concern to us that they are compromising their safety on the roads.  We hope our special offer, which provides significant savings, will encourage people to take breakdown cover in time for winter and ensure they won’t be stranded on a cold, dark night.”

In operation since 1932, GEM was recently voted Number One for roadside assistance in the Driver Power Survey of over 32,000 readers of Auto Express magazine, GEM offers an exceptional service which is clearly revered by its members. With an average response time of just 40 minutes and a 24 hour service, GEM members can be sure that they will be rescued as swiftly and as safely as possible.
