Peter G Foot, National Chairman of C for C said “Whatever mode of transport we use, be it car, bus or train, being polite to fellow travellers will make a journey a safer and more pleasant experience.  We are encouraging those on the move to show patience and understanding to each other and to the staff looking after them”.

David Williams, Chief Executive of GEM said “Courtesy is important to all travellers but to those behind the wheel of a car it can literally be a matter of life and death.  A simple wave to acknowledge a courtesy extended or to apologise for a minor error can help prevent an awkward situation becoming a dangerous one”.

Both organisations have worked together to produce an information leaflet entitled ‘Courtesy on the Road’ which outlines some simple yet effective ways to improve Road Safety through courtesy.

David Williams added “Violent Road Rage although rare, does exist and by adopting a more courteous approach to driving we can all help to minimise further such incidents from occurring.  When GEM was founded back in 1932 Care, Courtesy and Concentration was the organisation’s slogan and after nearly 80 years these principals remain valid today”.
